A fundamental and vital part of our lives are our relationships. These relationships bring us so much joy, love and happiness. Life would be incomplete if we did not have satisfying relationships with our parents, siblings, significant others, friends and co-workers. Our relationships with other people are defined by the bond we share and the comfort level we have with the other people.

The relationship we have with our parents is that of respect and unconditional love, along with the comfort that they will always support us. Our relationship with our siblings is that of tears and laughter and of a confidant who will keep all your secrets safe. The relationship with your significant other is defined by the love and respect you have for each other.

The relationship with your friends is a judgement free zone, the beauty of this relationship is the simplicity and honesty that is the foundation of friendship. Life is all the more magnificent because of the relationship and the people you have in your life.

Today we have taken our relationships for granted. With social media taking over our lives today, we have forgotten the people in our real world. The more time we spend on social media, the more we forget about the people who matter. By chasing the perfection of the social media, we are leaving behind the people in the real world.

We do not put in the required time or effort and the emotional quotient it requires to build our relationships. Actions talk louder than words, and that is true for your relationships as well. Being present physically is not enough, until your emotionally invested in all your relationships you will not be able to have healthy relationships.

Learn to respect your relationships, take the time out to make small gestures of appreciation. Relationships are enriching, be thankful for what you have. Let the people in your life know that they are important to you. Sometimes we do not realize the value of things we have, until we lose them. Make the most of what you have now, instead of regretting the time you lost.
